Your hearing is one of your most valuable assets. It connects you to your friends, family, and the world around you. What you may not realize already, however, is the degree to which hearing takes place in your brain, not your ears! In fact, because your brain is different from everyone else’s, you hear differently than other people around you. Our 5-star-rated hearing aid specialists for memory loss in Maui are here to discuss the fascinating ways that your brain helps you to hear… and the ways that BrainHearing™ technology has brought hearing aid treatment to an entirely new level.

What Does Your Brain Have to Do with Hearing?

Think of your ears as microphones that pick up sounds. Once those sounds enter your ears, your brain has to decode and figure out what the sounds mean. Without your brain, you wouldn’t be able to process, enjoy, or comprehend anything that you hear.

According to our experts, your brain does something else amazing with the sound received by your ears. To demonstrate this, try reading the following verse…

Roses are red
Violets are _____
Sugar is sweet
And so are you!

Did your brain figure out that the blank in that verse is supposed to say “blue”? It does the same thing when you are listening to someone speak in a noisy room. Sometimes, your ears might not catch sound completely. When this happens, your brain works to fill in the gaps to create meaning.

Avoid the Danger of Cognitive Overload

Unfortunately, when you suffer from hearing loss, your brain must go into overdrive to fill in numerous sound gaps all the time. After a while, this can take its toll. You may end up feeling tired, and social gatherings can start to feel like work instead of fun. Your memory can suffer, as well, since your brain can only work so hard at so many things at once.

What Is BrainHearing™?

BrainHearing™ is part of the broader NeuroTechnology™ field of audiology (the science of hearing), and as the name suggests, this technology works in harmony with your brain. It automatically adjusts and optimizes sound to match your unique hearing profile and personal sound preferences. The result is a more natural hearing experience that’s customized exclusively for you.

When your hearing aid incorporates BrainHearing™ technology, your brain doesn’t have to work as hard to filter out unwanted background noise to create meaning from sound. The result is greater enjoyment and more energy to listen to your friends and family!

We are also happy to share that BrainHearing™ technology is now available in Oticon’s Alta hearing devices! Because Alta features Oticon’s fastest sound processor ever, this allows you to hear more clearly, and understand even soft speech better.

I was very impressed by the quality of the care and the exemplary service that I and my family received! I highly recommend them! They use a variety of tests and spend the time to explain everything to you and they answer your questions very patiently! Mahalo!!! - Barony barony 5 star review

Came in yesterday for my mother due to an ad invite for a new hearing device and instead got more than we came for, a thorough ear/hearing tests and insurance options expert advice without sales pitch hint. Dr. Wesley Nakamura's patience and knowledge made us feel comfortable and he genuinely wants to help us, putting our best interest first. Neat and clean office with super friendly staff! Too bad Yelp only got 5 stars when I could easily give it a 10! Thank you Wes and the staff !!! Aloha! - Andy andy 5 star hearing review

I took a hearing test there and had the best experience ever! Dr. Nakamura is really generous, friendly, and heartwarming. He made sure if I felt comfortable when I am in the small room for the hearing test. He knows well with hearing aids and he fixed feedback of my hearing aid like in 5 minutes. The feedback bothered me for a long time but it got so much better. He speaks Japanese very well, too. I would definitely come back to here if I ever get a problem with my hearing aids. Thank you so much!! - Manae Manae hearing care review
